Safe sane sensible genuine schoolmaster pony/small horse wanted to join our small mixed herd, for small (5'1") 15 year old girl and lightweight 50 something mum! For both of us whilst we are waiting for my daughters 14.1 hunting/pc pony to recover from a long term injury, then will have a forever home with me.
My daughter is a very competent, quiet and sensitive rider but not the bravest, so must be kind enough to tolerate a few nerves on occasion and definitely not strong. Snaffle mouthed in all disciplines, well schooled, willing and responsive but not too forward and not fizzy. MUST be a proven mannerly hunter for a child, happy to go first or last, out on point etc, stand quietly at the meet, jump everything but happy to wait their turn, not too big an engine. We don't do a lot of competing with GCSEs approaching, but able to take her safely and steadily round a 90 cm sj or xc course at rallies or low level competitions would be great! Safe non-competitive hack, alone and in company, not phased by tractors, grain lorries etc.
We don't want a high maintenance competition pony, but a true child's pony/horse, happy to stand for hours to be cuddled and groomed, enjoy picnic rides, riding bareback in the river, going for sleepovers etc. Daughter does all the care herself so excellent ground manners essential and must be OK if not ridden every day! No ridden or stable vices.
Nothing too cobby, Connemara or ISH types preferred. Happy to look at older horses as long as there are not too many health issues.
Our horses are kept at home in acres of open countryside in North Bedfordshire, adjacent to The College EC, Keysoe. Horse can live in or out, we can accommodate both. Will travel a reasonable distance to view the right pony/horse and have a sensible sized budget. PC/hunting references will be needed.
