Welsh Section C BlackGelding 10 years 12.2 hands (LHC)

Extremely sad sale of our fantastic 128 (LHC 126.40 cm). I bought Jack to run alongside my daughter’s other 128 for her last year on 12.2s but she has had a growth spurt and is moving onto a 148 a bit earlier than expected.

Jack has got a great BS record both with his previous owners and with us (though he has had limited outings as my daughter has concentrated more on her other ponies). Having been out of work in his last home we have brought him back into competition and Izzy has had lots of success at BS 70-85cm with him. He is currently successfully jumping 95cm unaffiliated tracks to prepare him for the BS 90s and is schooling round 1m+ tracks at home with lots of scope. Jack has been training with Morgan Kent each week and with Joe Whitaker on a monthly basis. He jumps all fillers/water trays/skinnies etc without hesitation and is never spooky. He is very careful and rarely has a pole. Jack would suit as a starter BS pony (Stepping Stones etc) or for a more experienced child/home to produce for the bigger tracks. He would be an asset to any PC team.

Jack is not your typical quirky show jumper. He can do everything! He is a calm, bombproof hack – good with all traffic, animals and farm machinery and safe in open spaces. He has been used to nanny young and nervous horses and would be an amazing hunter as he never tires and covers the ground well. Jack also loves cross-country and is fearless. He has won several hunter trials in his last home and we recently took him to Camp Hill where he came 2nd of a field of 48 – clear and very close to optimum! He has schooled with ease over the BE 80 and 90 fences at Northallerton and goes straight into water. He does a lovely test and is an amazing little event pony.

Jack has also participated in all pony club activities including rallies, show jump training, dressage and musical rides with York and Ainsty North (refs available if required). He stands calmly waiting his turn and isn’t phased by any bad behaviour around him. Jack would also do well in the show ring - he is a registered Welsh section C and is beautifully built and super smart – turning heads wherever he goes. He is well schooled and could excel as a working hunter pony at the highest levels.

Beyond all of this Jack is a dream to own. No vices. Easy to do in all ways and can be handled entirely by a child – loads easily, lives out or in (has lived out all Winter with us), is a good doer, never sick or sorry, stands like a rock to be clipped, barefoot but good with the farrier/dentist/vet. Up to date with vaccs, worming, physio. Great at shows – warms up nicely even in a busy collecting ring and stands quietly at the box. Never bolts or rears. He is also extremely affectionate, kind and loves to be cuddled and fussed – you can ride him bareback in a head coller. A true child’s best friend.

Jack’s only negative is that on sunny days in a big field with lots of grass and mares in season (!) he can do a couple of laps before he will be caught. This has only happened twice in the time we have had him.

Jack is a chunky pony with a ‘busy’ canter. He likes to get on with whatever job he is doing. Our pony club instructor describes him as ‘nicely forward without being silly’. For this reason he is not a tiny tots pony but one suitable for a 10 years and over confident and competent child.

Videos of all the above activities including BS classes and jumping a 1m course at home (including my daughter making a mess of things and Jack jumping anyway) are available on You Tube (search Rynys Black Jack).

The best of homes only for this amazing little chap. He is a real quality pony and has so much to give - we are devastated to part with him. Previous owners (had him from 3 years old) would like to stay in touch please.

Please email abbyjo2004@yahoo.co.uk in the first instance as I am not always able to answer my phone.

Price includes bridle, some rugs and his stable door name plate (!)
